Dr Balu Vaidyanathan was born on January 1, 1971 in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. Son of Subramony Vaidyanathan and Rajam Lalithambal.

Brief Profile
- He is one of the first few Indian Cardiologists to be certified in fetal cardiology, Evelina Children's Hospital, London
- He is also a recipient of Young Investigator award, Pediatrics Cardiac Society, India, 2007.
- After his training, he established a dedicated fetal cardiology division at Amrita Hospital in 2008. He is currently working as clinical professor - Pediatric and Fetal Cardiology at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Kochi.
- He has about 35 research publications and around 100 professional lectures to his credit. His primary areas of interest include prenatal diagnosis, neonatal screening for CHD and epidemiological research in paediatric cardiology.
